Eid 2024: A day of Celebrating End Of Fasting and Helping Poor

Special Prayers

The day begins with a special prayer service held in large congregations in mosques or open areas. This prayer includes a sermon and is followed by a supplication asking for forgiveness, mercy, and peace for all beings.

Festive Meals:

After the prayers, Muslims partake in a festive breakfast, marking the first daylight meal after a month of fasting. Families and friends gather to share meals, with special dishes and sweets prepared for the occasion.

Zakat al-Fitr

One of the key aspects of Eid al-Fitr is the giving of Zakat al-Fitr, a form of charity given to the poor. This obligatory act ensures that even the less fortunate can participate in the festivities. The charity is usually given before the Eid prayer to those in need.

New Clothes and Decorations:

Wearing new or best clothes is customary, symbolizing renewal and fresh beginnings. Homes and public spaces are often decorated to reflect the celebratory mood.
