As Flynas continues to pursue its growth and expansion goals, the Saudi low-cost carrier has received its 50th aeroplane from Airbus from a consignment of 120 aircraft.
The European aerospace company and the Riyadh-based airline inked a contract in 2017 worth over SR32 billion ($8.53 billion) for A320neo aircraft, making it the second-largest aircraft acquisition in the Middle East at the time.
In November 2018, the first A320neo aircraft was delivered to Saudi Arabia’s national airline.
According to the Saudi Press Agency, this is consistent with Flynas’ plan to grow its fleet and achieve its ambition of reaching 165 domestic and foreign destinations, which is in keeping with the goals set forth in the Saudi Vision 2030.
Since the start of 2024, Flynas added A320neo aircraft and is expected to receive further in the coming year, further solidifying the airline’s dedication to environmental preservation and sustainability. Furthermore, according to SPA, the A320neo is the most sophisticated, ecologically responsible, and fuel-efficient single-aisle aircraft in the world.
Acquiring the new aircraft also resulted in the creation of employment opportunities in the aviation industry, both directly and indirectly. Flynas has announced that applications for a number of programmes, including the Future Pilots, Future Engineers, and Saudi Men and Women Cabin Crew Programmes, are now open.
Furthermore, Flynas made a significant move by entering into an agreement with Airbus, which strengthened its standing as the top low-cost airline in the Middle East and among the top four economic airlines globally. Flynas aims to enable national air carriers to contribute to connecting Saudi Arabia with 250 international destinations and accommodate 330 million passengers by 2030.
In March, Flynas increased its flying capacity by 25 percent, allowing travellers to fly to the UK and enjoy greater connectivity to international travel. Company officials shared a statement that “We aim to redefine the travel experience by demonstrating enhanced operating capabilities. This is all possible due to the increase in the fleet of Flynas, which now includes two Airbus A320neo aircraft.”
Since its establishment in 2007, Flynas has carried more than 78 million passengers. With more than 1,500 weekly flights, it currently connects more than 70 local and foreign destinations.
